The National Flute Academy was founded 2007 by Hernando Leal and Gabriel Ahumada to provide artistic motivation, professional attitude, encouragement and support for flute students.
The Academy is addressed to students of all the musical institutions of the country and abroad, as well as professional flutists who wish to advance their knowledge in greater depth and/or bring up to date their musical knowledge.
The Academy offer first-class training by an internationally-recognized artist.
For the second edition was maestro Peter-Lukas Graf from Switzerland as special guest.

The training of the first academy included 18 hours of chamber music, 7 different seminaries, 54 hours of individual lessons and technical work.
Musical work included also a repertoire of approximately 40 different pieces.
The Academy has given also different Concerts and prices for talented students.
The First Colombian National Flute Academy took place in Villa de Leyva, a small city located 3.5 hours from Bogota and 2140 meters of altitude.
Villa de Leyva was founded on June 12, 1572 by Hernan Suarez de Villalobos, but the city´s name was given in honor of the first President of Nueva Granada, Andres Diaz Villa de Leyva.
This beautiful town all built in colonial style was declared National Monument in 1954.
Visitors can walk over its cobbled paving streets and discover its gigantic Main Plaza, all surrounded by streets that evoke past times on which old mansions have been adapted to hotels in order to accomodate the turists.
